System of Remote
Destructability - Survival Resource Labratories
Mark Pauline founded SRL in 1978 as an organization whose goal was
to "redirect the techniques, tools, and tenets of industry, science, and
the military away from their typical manifestations in practicality, product
or warfare." Performance, spectacle, and danger--SRL has been
there from the beginning. The first lethal Internet robot.
Interactive Model Railroad
In the University of Ulm's Interactive Model Railroad the user controls
a model train set. A second camera has been added to provide a closer
view. Users choose a train and may change tracks. It is a slow
site, but one of the more interesting ones on the web. The
site contains a pictorial archive of train crashes. I've had trouble
loading the new camera view, and the page of crashes could not complete
itself.

Rhino
Rhino, the mobile robot tourguide, is a joint project between the Institut
fur Informatik III of the Reinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universitat Bonn,
and the Carnegie Melon University. The Deutsche Museum
Bonn (German Museum of Bonn) is Germany's first contemporary technology
museum. Rhino conducts tours over the internet, and the user may
direct the focus of their guide's efforts. The hours of this site
are tricky, but a time schedule is available
