Rita
Rita (a Pioneer 1), The University of Birmingham's learning robot uses Riccardo Poli and Axel Großmann's research with algorithmic learning mechanisms.    Rita's previous knowledge serves as a ground for new knowledge, and through the performance of related tasks, she learns to navigate her controlled environment and use her gripper. The team is currently researching constructive neural networks which will adapt to the many tasks faced.   The web interface was enacted to promote robot learning.  Rita is usually on-line 2 to 4 pm GMT on weekdays with odd-numbered dates (i.e., alternating weeks of M-W-F and T-Th).
